I was fortunate enough to grow up with dogs and cats and today I have two cats of my own (I would like to have a dog but I have to break my wife into the animal world slowly!!). The bond you can have with a dog is something that non-dog people will never know or experience and for that I feel bad for them. I wish you and your family all the best through this sorrowful time.
